Go>Sign does not working on Vista?
On Vista, JRE 1.6.0 to JRE 1.6.0_07 have a well-documented problem which can be overcome by setting the IE browser protected mode as shown below:

Sun Microsystems have fixed this problem in later versions of JRE, it is for this reason that Ascertia recommends Vista users to upgrade to JRE to 1.6.0_10 or 1.6.0_11. With these updated releases it is not necessary to turn off protected mode.
File signing demo not work in IE7 or IE8?
On IE7/IE8, there is a well-documented javascript which can be overcome by adding website in trusted sites as shown below:

The ADSS Go>Sign applet is not working – why not?
Before using ADSS Go>Sign, make sure that the desktop system has JRE 1.6.0 or above installed (Ascertia recommends JRE 1.6.0_10 onwards). If system contains JRE 1.5.0 or below then the applet will automatically detect this and run a wizard to install the latest JRE, simply press the Install button in the screen shown below:

I am getting an error message when I try to sign a PDF – why is this?
There are some PDF specific which can prevent signing operations working, these are:
  1. A certified PDF that has its permissions set to deny further signing.
  2. A PDF that is already encrypted cannot be signed.
  3. A signed PDF cannot have a Certifying signature added to it.

The ADSS Go>Sign applet is taking a lot of time to run – why is this?
When the ADSS Go>Sign demo runs for the first time, the Go>Sign applet is always downloaded from the website thus taking extra time to execute the demo. Once Go>Sign is downloaded, your browser will not download it again. The speed of the applet also depends upon the number of digital certificates present in your Windows keystore, the larger the number the longer it will take. Go>Sign applet can be configured to only show a filtered set of records or automatically select a particular certificate; this filtering capability has not been used in the demo to ensure any type of certificate can be used without problem.

Can I use smart cards with Go>Sign demo?
Yes you can – ADSS Go>Sign uses Windows CAPI and can use any USB token or smart card that provides a Microsoft CSP.

I am unable to see my certificate in the Go>Sign demo drop down list?
Check the following conditions:
  1. If you are using a USB token make sure it is in the USB slot.
  2. If you are using a smart card make sure the card is in the reader.
  3. Check that the certificate has not expired.
  4. Check you can see the certificate within the IE > Tools > Options > Contents > Certificates list
If it is not working then provide the following information to support@ascertia.com:

  5. a) The Java console logs dump
    b) The digital certificate used for signing

I am getting an error when I use Firefox v3 to browse and select a file for signature creation/verification. What is the problem?
The Firefox developers have created a problem for everyone by not passing the file path from Firefox v3.0 and later versions. The demo works with IE 6, 7 and Firefox 2. Any file / browser web-application will have this problem with Firefox v3. See: http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=no&forumId=1&comments_parentId=91513

I cannot verify a signature which I had created using GTF Demos some time back?
We have now deployed a new corporate signing certificate within the GTF demonstrations area that has a much longer expiry period. Please generate signatures again and test these.

I want to perform similar activities e.g. signing, verification etc as shown GTF Demos. Can I perform these in my own web application?
The GTF demonstrations environment uses ADSS Enterprise Server. The demonstration web applications make calls to ADSS Server to perform all signing, certification, validation and verification operations. Ascertia provides an SDK (ADSS Client SDK) with C# and Java APIs to enable easy integration of business applications with ADSS Server. Auto File Processor and Secure Email Server are also available. See the main Ascertia website for details.
